Percolation of Dreams

When will I live my life
When will it be my time
I live someone else’s dream
When do I live mine

The things they missed out
And the dreams that they lost
Trickle down to my share
Dictate what I want

And if time should run out
And my dreams too be lost
The next generation shall inherit
The dreams I couldn’t live

– Raziel ©2013

This poem is based on the theme that children often carry the burden of their parents’ unfulfilled dreams and aspirations, sometimes at the cost of their own dreams. And often, their own dreams then fall onto the shoulders of the next generation.
